We use save point to limit the rolling back of whole transaction. Let´s consider the transaction where we perform certain operation on DB and last operation some how failed and we don´t need to roll back whole transaction, as first 3 operation was successful and no dependency on last operation, in that case we set some savePoints and while rolling back the transaction we´ll rollback till a specific save point. We set a save point where we don´t need to go back if we reach there successfully.

Below example is just for sample we never do coding like this, we always rollback the transaction in catch block or in case of some unexpected results.
